This internship is the best thing that's ever happened to me. I can't believe all the stuff I'm learning. I never really knew how busy St. Mungo's stays all the time. There never really is a slow time. And even though we're not doing any real hands on things right now, we still get to stand-in and observe a lot. I had thought about getting some kind of part time job over the weekends but keeping up with the coursework for this is way too time consuming and I don't want to get too distracted or pull myself away from it more than I have to. Even during quidditch practice I sometimes feel as if I should be studying up or practising particularly tricky healing elixirs and charms. It really makes me feel like I haven't been wrong in putting so much into my future and hoping that things will get better after Hogwarts. Now I know that it will.

I know it sounds completely daft. But I'm looking forward to Thursday and taking the I.M.P. exams. This internship program is going to be so beneficial. I can't believe in about a month, I'll actually be in St. Mungo's, scrubbed up and treating patients. Maybe not treating them, but at least observing healers while they treat them. It's so fascinating. And what a reminder that we're almost done. Everything's becoming so real. It's strange to think about.

I gave out two detentions today. And they were well deserved, too. And I'm proud of myself because I didn't let them try to talk me out of it or make empty promises that they'd never do something like that again. And they didn't argue or undermine me. They took the write-ups and stopped doing what they were doing and went to class. I'm only writing about this because, well, things didn't used to happen like that.
